Rahmat Wibowo publicly named Salman Ma'arif Achsien and accused him of bullying by quoting Salman's alumni group comment that Rahmat should be 'trialed and removed for one month,' framing routine community moderation feedback as coordinated harassment.

Just wanted to share a quick reflection on
something that happened in our alumni
group today.
I made a mistake, and | fully own that.
However, the group rules were only formally
established today. Since the rules did not
exist before this moment, | believe we should
all start from zero.
Past actions cannot fairly be judged when no
guidelines were in place for us to follow.
Unfortunately, the discussion quickly turned
Public in front of 500+ IT professionals and
alumni from around the world.
Basuki Winoto:
from commented that if something is
disturbing, a ban should apply without
retroactive effect, and those with repeated
issues would eventually face consequences
anyway.
Salman Ma‘arif Achsien :
linkedin.com/in/smaarif shared his personal
view that the person involved should be
trialed and removed for one month because
it has happened too often, though he noted
other considerations from the admin team
are also welcome. He added that a simple
cooldown probably would not teach a lesson
as it is easy to work around.
While | respect their opinions and have
already spoken privately with Arif (who
mentioned he has his own lawyer), | feel this
Public framing has come across as bullying
rather than constructive dialogue, especially
in such a visible professional network where
many of us, including Basuki who works in
the US, represent our shared alumni
community.
My intention is not to create more conflict
but to highlight one simple principle: when
new rules are introduced, fairness means
applying them going forward, not backward.
We are all here to grow, support each other,
and maintain the positive spirit of this global
IT alumni group.
Happy to discuss this privately with anyone
who wants to.
Let's keep building each other up.
